At the Theatre

Welcome, dear friends,
To the theatre by the way.
The building is old
Built long ere yesterday.
But relax just a bit,
And imagine you're home
While you're here at the theatre
Just watching my play.

Discord, you're on!
To the stage take your place.
Tell them you're Happiness
Painted smiles on your face.
Don't try to fool them,
It doesn't matter if they know
Because they're here at the theatre
Just watching my play.

Corruption, you're next!
Thou fairest, what grace.
Hide foul smell with perfume
Don Beauty's garments of lace.
Don't try to fool them
They know what's beneath.
But they're here at the theatre
Just watching my play.

Cruelty, come quickly!
A child suffers in vain.
Pretending great Mercy
Put him out of his pain.
Don't try to fool them
They know who you are.
But they're here at the theatre
Just watching my play.

Hate, you're the star!
The center of my soul.
All others' undoing
Is your greatest goal.
Don't try to fool them
They know you too well.
But they're here at the theatre
Just watching my play.

The play is now over.
And their turn has come.
Under cover of darkness
We'll follow them home.
We'll sit at their table
And relax just a bit
Imagining we're still...
Here at the theatre,
Just watching my play.
