Bush Cherry
2008: 4/13/08: This tree was planted in a pot on about 3/29/08. Its survival
was in doubt, but with watering, and some help from VF-11, all of the branches
now have leaves, and we even have a few blossoms.
2009: 3/26/09: New leaves are coming on, and blossoms have appeared. 4/23/09: Still no appearance of fruit, but there is still time. 5/7/09: I've noticed two tiny fruits. We have 3 bushes in the same pot, and the blossoms require cross-pollination, so the first bush to bloom has no cherries. 6/27/09: We have 5 total fruits, slowly increasing in size week by week. I don't know when they'll be ripe or how I might tell. 11/29/09: Even the birds didn't like the cherries these bushes produced. I tried two and spit them out. There might be some good reasons to have a bush cherry, but I don't know of any. We let this bush die and pulled it up.
