Kumquat
DSCN0625.JPG 2008: 4/9/08: We've had this tree for a few years, but I just ignored it until now. The photo is from 2005. 6/7/08: The tree was in full bloom when we transplanted it last year, so I expected that the trauma of transplant would cause near-complete absence of fruit. However, we now have lots of fruit that is pea-sized and larger. Tree looks healthy, and is growing slowly. 9/7/08: The fruit is orange now, and there is plenty of it, but the size is disappointingly small.

2009: 2/20/09: The fruit has indeed been tiny, but it began to fall naturally just within the last few days, so we have picked a modest amount. And they're just what you want from a kumquat, tart with a sweet skin. 3/26/09: We finished the fruit about three weeks ago, and it was quite good. I fed this tree a fertilizer spike with various metals such as iron and zinc, as I was informed that the yellow leaves were indicative of lack of zinc. 6/11/09: Several weeks ago we transplanted the Bacon avocado and put a Nagami kumquat in its place. The tree is healthy, but the fruit taste is inferior to the smaller kumquats on our original tree. The original tree has a few blossoms on it right now. 8/18/09: As of 2 weeks ago both our original tree and the new Nagami tree have many blossoms.
